MECHANICSVILLE—The Rev. Ernest H. Cary Sr., 89, went home to be with His Lord and Savior on Friday, May 22, 2015.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Betty Ann (Vaughan) Cary; four children, Glenda Cary of Mechanicsville, Ernie Jr. of Clermont, Florida, Denise Wise of Franklin, and Mark of Roanoke; a brother, Robert Cary of Cleveland, Tennessee; seven grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.

After his military service, the Rev. Cary entered the ministry full time and rose to the rank of ordained bishop with the Church of God in Cleveland, Tennessee.

The homegoing celebration took place on Tuesday evening in Ashland Church of God. Interment will take place at noon on Wednesday, May 27, in Sherwood Memorial Park, Salem, Virginia.
