The view from the top

In the world of high school athletics, winning a championship is a special accomplishment. Whether it is a conference, district or regional crown, those special seasons create a lifetime of memories for the athletes that live them. For those blessed enough to win a state championship, it leaves them with a legacy.

Most high school athletes never get to experience the view from the top. In fact, many schools have never fielded a team in any sport that earned the right to call itself state champs. Which is why last weekend was such an incredible experience for the Raiders of Southampton Academy.

In a span of roughly 18 hours, the girls varsity softball and boys varsity baseball teams each won their respective state championships. Both teams are incredibly talented and were a dominant force on the field all season long, which makes the fact that both claimed their sports’ ultimate prize a fitting ending to their seasons. Winning less than a day apart is something that they, and their entire school community, will remember for a lifetime.

We extend our congratulations to the student-athletes, coaches, parents and staff of Southampton Academy. Your hard work and dedication to excellence have earned you a well earned view from the top.
