FRANKLIN
A Franklin man was arrested on Sunday in the 1600 block of Dorchester Street in connection with brandishing a firearm during a domestic situation, said Capt. Tim Whitt, spokesman for the Franklin Police Department.
Wesley Jermaine Wiggins, 32, was charged with domestic assault, reckless handling of a firearm and brandishing a firearm.
Whitt said officers responded to the residence at 8:28 p.m., and once inside they encountered a domestic situation in progress with a male subject hiding his hands behind his back. The subject immediately refused to show his hands after an order was given.
When he eventually showed officers his hands, officers saw that there was a loaded Ruger .45 caliber pistol in his right hands. Officers had to order the subject to drop his weapon several times before he complied.
Wiggins is alleged to have threatened a female resident of Dorchester Street with the gun prior to the arrival of the officers.
He was transported to Western Tidewater Regional Jail, where he was given a $2,000 secured bond.
