Local United Way calls for support of CVC campaign

To the Editor:

For the past 10 years, the Franklin-Southampton Area United Way has participated in the Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign (CVC), an annual charity drive that allows state employees to make pre-tax donations to local non-profit agencies through payroll deductions. In 2014, our agency was inadvertently left off of the list of eligible agencies.

We sincerely thank our generous supporters that have donated through the Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign in the past and were unable to do so this year. We have reapplied for the 2015 campaign and hope to have your continued vital support again in the fall.

Your local United Way relies upon donations from residents and businesses to sustain programs in Franklin and Southampton County that provide assistance in four focus areas: basic needs, education, health and financial stability.

One-hundred percent of all donations received are directed to these programs to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of our local communities.

If you are a state employee and wish to make a difference in your community please consider donating through the Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign (CVC) beginning in October.

Support the Franklin-Southampton Area United Way (CVC charity No. 3837 and other local organizations that concentrate on health and human services, education, and the environment by visiting www.cvc.virginia.gov or by talking to your human resources office.
