FRANKLIN—Ferne Turner Kitchen, 92, passed away on Tuesday, April 7. She was a daughter of the late Paul Turner and Lizzie Griffin Turner and was also predeceased by her husband, George Thomas Kitchen Sr.; a daughter, Jeanie Kitchen Darden; a granddaughter, Janet Kitchen Crumpler; and three sisters, Shirley Bradshaw, Jane Babb and Suretta Babb.

She was a member of Courtland Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years. She worked for Parker Drug Co., Camp Manufacturing Co., St. Regis Paper Co., and was one of the first employees of Walmart in Franklin.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, George T. Kitchen Jr. (Ann) of Courtland; four grandchildren, Rhonda Kitchen, Jill Darden, Clifton “Jack” Darden (Dawn) and Jonathan Paul Darden; and six great grandchildren, Peter Daniel Crumpler IV, Rachel Sterenberg, Sara, Justin, and Jacob Ford and Aiden Darden; and one great-great-grandchild, Eleanor Ann Sterenberg.

A graveside funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 9, at Riverside Cemetery, Courtland, with the Rev. Howard Vinson Jr. officiating. Wright Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
