IVOR—Rebecca “Becky” Cornwell Owens, 74, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Sentara Obici surrounded by her family.

She was a self-employed nail technician who worked out of her home for over 30 years, as well as a sales clerk at Kid’s Korner in Wakefield.

Becky loved her Lord and Savior, and was a faithful member of Tucker Swamp Baptist Church where she served in the children’s department and nursery as well as the choir.

She was an avid Virginia Tech Hokies fan and loved spending time with her family, especially the trips to the beach.

Becky was preceded in death by her parents, Raby and Esmond Boothe Cornwell, and her sister, Rosalyn Cornwell Hines.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 53 years, Robert Joseph Owens; her children, Rebecca Lynn Owens-Goodrich and husband, Lynn; Robert Neil Owens, Wendy Owens Bass and husband, Mel; grandchildren, Mackenzie Leigh Bass, Kennedy Neal Bass and Erin Hayden Goodrich; her brother, Ronald “Ronnie” Cornwell; and a host of special nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday, March 30, in Tucker Swamp Baptist Church from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, in the church with the Rev. Curt Faison officiating. Burial will follow at Ivor Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Sentara Obici for the special care Becky received while she was there.
