COURTLAND—Dempsey Blythe, 89, passed away on March 25, 2015.

A lifelong resident of Southampton County, he was a son of the late Tony and Lucille Brock Blythe, and was predeceased by his wife, Tillie Morris Blythe; two brothers; three sisters; and one granddaughter, Carla Fowler.

He was an Army veteran and was a retired carpenter.

Left to cherish his memory are one daughter, Linda B. Fowler and her husband, David; one granddaughter, Tina Fowler Vaughan and her husband, Brian; one great-granddaughter, Carla Grayson Vaughan; and several nieces and nephews.

The graveside funeral with military honors will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 29, in Poplar Spring Cemetery with the Rev. James H. Hyatt Jr. officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin.
