COURTLAND—Jean A. Burgess, 83, passed away on March 20, 2015.

Jean was born in Suffolk, the daughter of the late Howard and Clara Carter Hancock, and was predeceased by a brother, Howard Smith “Smitty” Hancock Jr.

She was a member of Grace Memorial United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Claude C. Burgess; one daughter, Anita Claudine Hines; one son, Jeff Burgess; three grandchildren, Stefanie Bunn, Michael Burgess and Kimberly Suits; three great-grandchildren, Lauren, Taylor and Haley Bunn; and a sister-in-law, Audrey R. Hancock.

The graveside funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, in Rosemont Cemetery, Sedley, with the Rev. Kenneth Williams officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 24, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, and suggests memorial donations be made to the Courtland Rescue Squad or a favorite charity.
