Notice of Public Hearing

Notice is hereby given pursuant to Section 15.2-2204 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended that the Southampton County Planning Commission will hold public hearings on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. in the Board Room of the Southampton County Office Center at 26022 Administration Center Drive in Courtland, Virginia to consider the following:

1. CPA 2015:01 – Request by Larry and Ricky Blunt, owners, for a Comprehensive Plan Amendment from Agriculture/Forest/Open Space/Rural Residential to Commercial for two (2) parcels known as TP 91-7B and TP 91A-2-6, totaling 1.03 +/- acres. The property is located at 28434 General Thomas Highway, Franklin, VA, and is located approximately 5,900 feet west of the intersection of General Thomas Highway (SR 671) and Shady Brook Trail (SR 650). The property is within the Newsoms Voting and Magisterial Districts.
2. RZA 2015:02 – Request by Larry and Ricky Blunt, owners, for a zoning map amendment from A-1, Agricultural, to CB-2, Conditional General Commercial for two (2) parcels known as TP 91-7B and TP 91A-2-6, totaling 1.03 +/- acres. The property is located at 28434 General Thomas Highway, Franklin, VA, and is located approximately 5,900 feet west of the intersection of General Thomas Highway (SR 671) and Shady Brook Trail (SR 650). The property is within the Newsoms Voting and Magisterial Districts.
3. Review of the draft Southampton County Comprehensive Plan update 2015. The document is an overview of the physical, social, economic and demographic factors that affect Southampton County. The document provides maps, figures, exhibits and general policy statements that can be used to influence future land use decisions. The Plan update makes revisions to various chapters, including but not limited to the Transportation chapter, the Land Use & Growth Management chapter maps and text, and the Goals and Implementation chapter, as well as provides updates to the Introduction, Population, Housing, Economy, Education, Community Facilities, and Environment chapters.

Documents are available in the Franklin Southampton Community Development office in Franklin City Hall and the Southampton County Administration office in Courtland. The draft Comprehensive Plan is also available at www.southamptoncounty.org.

Any persons desiring to speak in favor of or opposition to the above referenced application(s) are encouraged to appear and be heard at the aforementioned time and place. Any persons wishing to attend this hearing who may require auxiliary aids should contact Michael W.
