When a community pulls together

An event this past Saturday at the Franklin Bowling Center is a shining example of what can be accomplished when a community comes together for a worthy cause.

The Franklin Rotary Club holds a bowl-a-thon each year, and the funds raised go directly back to the community in the form of student scholarships and grants to local charitable organizations.

Over the last several years, the event has grown larger and produced greater results, thanks in large part to significant partnerships with community stakeholders like Paul D. Camp Community College and the Regional Workforce Development Center, who signed on again this year as the event’s title sponsor. Many other local businesses and individuals make substantial contributions, ensuring that the Rotary Club’s singular fundraiser can have the maximum local impact.

This year’s bowl-a-thon raised more than $30,000, a record total for the event, which means that thanks to the efforts of the Rotary Club, PDCCC, and the many other businesses and individuals who contributed so generously, a record amount of money will be given right back to the community and make a real difference in the lives of many of our neighbors. The success of the bowl-a-thon shows once again that, when this community pulls together, great things can indeed be accomplished.
