John Wayne Fowler, 53, who lives in the 14000 block of Plank Road, had his property searched when a GPS tracking signal on construction equipment, which was stolen that day, led investigators to Fowler’s residence. The Southampton office worked with the sheriff’s in Hertford County on the case.

With a search warrant in hand, they found the 2012 Kubota ATV with a dump body. But other property reported stolen was also recovered: a Hutchins five-ton trailer; a Case 95XT Skid Steer Loader; a Currahee Trailer; two Large Better Built Job Tool Boxes with tools; a Miller 400D welder; two green welding carts; an acetylene regulator; an oxygen regulator; a cutting torch head and hose; two buckets of wrenches and sockets (Pittsburgh Brand); and a Dewalt drill.

Drewery stated that property was recovered from Hertford and Northampton counties in North Carolina; Henrico County and Colonial Heights in Virginia.

Fowler was arrested and bonded on Monday.
