FRANKLIN—Barbara Cecile Vaughan, 72, of Midlothian, Virginia, died on Feb. 8, 2015, at Beth Sholom Lifecare Community in Richmond.

A retired information technology specialist for the Commonwealth of Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Louise Darden and Henry Cecil Vaughan of Franklin, Virginia.

She was educated in the Franklin public schools and graduated from Westhampton College of the University of Richmond, where she served as class secretary. She remained active in Westhampton College Alumnae activities and reunion planning committees for many years. A lifelong member of Sycamore Baptist Church in Franklin, she loved knitting, genealogy research, spending time with family and friends, and traveling the world with her college friends known as The Girly Girls.

She often said she had visited countries that she never thought she would see, and developed many friendships during her journeys. Her family will miss the apple pies and old-fashioned cornbread which she made for every special occasion.

Survivors include a sister, Martha V. Barnes of Franklin; two nieces, Rebecca B. Theuer (Stephen) of Richmond, and Anne B. Eason (Paul) of Chesapeake; three great-nieces, Catherine and Emily Theuer and Kayleigh Eason; two great-nephews, William Theuer and Cole Eason; and a large extended family.

The family will receive visitors on Thursday, Feb. 12, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home in Franklin.

Funeral services will be in Sycamore Baptist Church, 31120 Sycamore Church Road in Franklin, on Friday, Feb. 13 at 11 a.m., followed by burial in Poplar Spring Cemetery and a reception at the church.
