FRANKLIN—Ruth Francis Carter, 85, passed away on Saturday, Jan, 10, 2015, at the East Pavilion.

She was a native of Southampton County, and was a daughter of the late Raleigh Milton Francis and Annie Spence Francis. She was also predeceased by her husband, Charles William “Charlie Buck” Carter; two sisters, Bertha Johnson and Louise F. Bryant; and four brothers, James, Gilbert, Robert and Milton Francis.

Mrs. Carter was a 1947 graduate of Courtland High School, and a graduate of the Euphradian Institute in Franklin.

She was a member of Franklin Congregational Christian Church.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Debra C. Bradshaw and her husband, Burton C. “Brad” Bradshaw Jr.; two grandchildren, Burton C. (Tres) Bradshaw III (Anne) and Lisa B. Biler; one great grandchild, Burton Cox Bradshaw IV; and sisters, Bessie Best, Irma Heath, Jeannette Carlin, Marie Fowler and Rosa Lee Grant.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 14, in Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. James H. Hyatt, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Poplar Spring Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, and suggests memorial donations be made to the Franklin Congregational Christian Church or a favorite charity.
