Virgie L. Ricks

FRANKLIN—Mrs. Virgie Lee Ricks of Morton Street departed this life to claim her eternal rest and peace on Jan. 7, 2015, while a patient in Southampton Memorial Hospital.

On July 15, 1927, she was born to Thomas and Elsie Claude in Southampton County.

Mrs. Ricks was a member of Bryant Baptist Church and was a former member of the Senior Choir. Many years ago, she was also a member of the Senior Choir at Zoar Baptist Church.

Her memory will live forever in the hearts of five daughters, Theresa Hatch (Charles) and Shelia Austin of Franklin; Barbara Everette and Rosa Claude (Johnny) of Courtland; and Nina Clasp (Phil) of Capron; sons, James J. Ricks and Rudolph Ricks of Franklin, Alonzo Ricks (Donna) of Yorktown; sisters, Mary C. Taylor (Alex) and Elsie Gary of Capron; 14 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; one aunt, Etta Ridley; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of her life will be on Sunday, Jan. 11, at 2:30 p.m., in Bryant Baptist Church, 23375 Bryant Church Rd., Courtland, with Elder Patricia Powell delivering the eulogy; Dr. Allen M. Davis is the host pastor. The committal and benediction will be in Pine Level Cemetery.

A traditional service with dignity will be conducted by Williams M. Johnson & Sons Inc., 224 S. Main St., Franklin.
