FRANKLIN
Even as the Franklin High School Lady Bronco basketball team went down in defeat 55-11 to the Charles City County High School Lady Panthers, head coach Mona Sumblin stated, “We are trying hard to build and improve our team.”

Playing at the Peggy Wilkins Gym at Franklin High School on Monday, the home team was only able to produce 2 points for the first half of play.

“We are trying and will continue to work hard with what we have,” Sumblin said.

With the score 29-2 at the end of the first half, it was very evident that the visiting Lady Panthers were running up the score as many of their starters remained in for much of the game and even continued a full court press for the biggest part of the game.

“I like my players and they continue to hustle even as they have been defeated in all games for this season,” Sumblin said. “On tomorrow we will be back in the gym to continue to practice to try to get the best of our players’ abilities.

“What I need is for everyone to hustle, and I know that we can do better than what we are doing.”

On a positive note for the home team, they scored 6 in the final quarter of play. Leading the scoring for the Lady Broncos was Tanasja Rodgers with 8 points. Adneme Miles led the scoring for the Lady Panthers with 26 points followed by Meryah Bates with 11 points.
