NEWSOMS—Nettie Julia Vann Fowler, 91, passed away Dec. 26, 2014. Born in Conway, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Andrew Craig and Lillie Sumner Vann. Mrs. Fowler was a member of Newsoms Baptist Church and the Newsoms Woman’s Club and a former manager of the Newsoms Elementary School lunchroom. She was predeceased by her husband William Julian “Monk” Fowler; three sisters, Mary V. Davis, Edna V. Butler and Reva V. Walton; four brothers, Andrew Vann, Norman Royce Vann, James W. Vann, and Vernie Lee Vann; one grandson, Kenneth Wade White; and one great-grandson, Logan White.

Left to cherish her memory is one daughter, Joyce F. Hutchinson (James) of Murfreesboro, North Carolina; two sons, William J. Fowler, Jr. (Patsy) and Larry M. Fowler (Tammy) all of Newsoms; two sisters, Clonie V. Francis of Conway, North Carolina and Montie V. Garris of Murfreesboro, North Carolina; one brother, Robert Vann of Newsoms; six grandchildren, Joe White, Travis White, Amy Nahrebecki, Tara Fowler, Pete Fowler, and Cherie Winstead; four great-grandchildren, Kayla White, Addison Fowler, Gavin Winstead, and Alexiah Fowler; and three step-grandchildren, Lori Barnes, Jamie Kirkland, and Michael Hutchinson.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29, 2014 at Newsoms Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Hazelwood officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin and suggests memorials be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 6350 Center Drive, Norfolk, VA 23502. www.wrightfuneralhome.org
