An Isle of Wight Sheriff’s deputy has been treated and released following a single-car accident that took place on Monday at the intersection of Nike Park Road and Reynolds Drive, according to Lt. James Pope.

The cause of the accident, which occurred sometime from 9:15 to 9:30 p.m., is not yet known, and it’s being investigated by the Virginia State Police.

Pope said that the officer was on duty, but not on a call at the time.

Following the accident, the deputy was taken to a hospital, treated for minor injuries and released.
