On Monday evening, the Windsor Dukes lost to the Surry Cougars, 64-55, in a TriRivers District basketball game.
The Dukes shot a respectable 49 percent from the field and from three-point land, but they had 22 turnovers. The Cougars, who attempted 12 more shots than the Dukes, capitalized by shooting 63 percent from field.
Surry jumped out to a 26-13 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Windsor out-scored the Cougars in the second and fourth, but it was not by enough to make up the difference.
Malcolm “Woody” Greene led the Dukes with 18 points, while Quinten Winnegan was right behind him with 15 points. Winnegan also had 8 assists. Justin Williams of the Cougars put up 26 points.
Windsor fell to 0-4 on the season. The Dukes will play at Greensville on Wednesday.
