FRANKLIN
A Franklin man who suffered a gunshot wound to the head died at Norfolk General Hospital on Friday night, said Capt. Tim Whitt, Franklin Police Department spokesman.

Martinez D. Hill, 22, was shot in the 1400 block of Rosewood Avenue, near where police were earlier that night responding to a call of gunshots fired in the area of Rosewood and Washington Street. Officers found the area to be clear, and were then called at 8:02 p.m. to Southampton Memorial Hospital, where Hill had been dropped off at the emergency room. Whitt said that whoever left the victim there fled the scene in their vehicle.

While investigating, officers learned Hill was riding around in a car when the incident occurred, Whitt said.

Hill was a Franklin man, Whitt said, though his address at this time has yet to be identified.

Hill was sent to Norfolk General via air ambulance where he later died.

Franklin Police are looking for witnesses to the crime; however, they are not receiving much cooperation from the community, Whitt said.
