FRANKLIN
The Franklin City Public Schools division has teamed up with the Franklin Department of Social Services for the second annual toy drive to bring Christmas gifts to underprivileged children.

“A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal,” said Pam Kindred, executive assistant at Franklin City Public Schools. She spearheads the efforts. “Many items have been received; however, there is still more work to be done. We want this initiative to be a success by ensuring that each child that we have receives a gift. The outpour of love through donations was so great last year that we were able to contact Social Services to request additional families to assist.”

This year, the system is helping 18 Franklin families consisting of 30 children ranging in age. The students, school board, parents, faculty and staff will all be participating in the initiative, Kindred said.

Gift donations for children in the community to be distributed can be dropped off at the Franklin City Public Schools Central Services Office, 207 W. 2nd Avenue, Franklin, by Monday, D33ec. 15.
