FRANKLIN
After the Franklin Christmas parade on Friday evening, a group of at least 50 teenagers and young adults marred the parade by breaking out in fights in the area of South Main Street, said Capt. Tim Whitt, spokesman for the Franklin Police Department.

Police responded quickly at 8:19 p.m. and found that an 18-year-old Franklin man had been hit with a gun causing a laceration to his forehead. The victim refused to cooperate and then tried to incite others to violence, causing the officers to charge him with disorderly conduct. Whitt declined to give his name due to fear of retaliation by others involved.

After the original fight was broken up, other groups began to fight further down on South High Street, and officers were able to disperse this group without further incident.

It is unknown what caused the fights at this time. The event is still under investigation, anyone with information should call the Franklin Police Department at 562-8575 or Franklin Crime Solvers at 562-8599.
