ISLE OF WIGHT
Christina Berta, executive director of Budget, Finance and Operations, announces her departure from Isle of Wight County Schools. Berta has accepted a promotion with Williamsburg James City Schools as Chief Financial Officer.

“This is a bittersweet moment for me,” said Berta. “This was a difficult decision as I have truly enjoyed working with my wonderful colleagues, but this new position is also an amazing opportunity to advance my career. I am proud of the work that my team has done to ensure that the school division remains fiscally responsible.”

She will begin her new role with Williamsburg James City County Schools on Jan. 5. Isle of Wight County Schools will start the search for a viable candidate to fill her position in the coming days. Berta remains committed to the financial operations of the school division and will provide guidance through out the fiscal year 2015-2016 budget development process.

“Mrs. Berta’s departure is certainly a loss to our Executive Leadership team and our school division,” said Division Superintendent Dr. Katrise Perera. “We wish her the very best in her new position as well as appreciate all of her efforts in leading the finance department to build and maintain a budget of integrity that allows us to continue providing our students with opportunities to achieve educational excellence.”
