Good to see one politician not participate in smear campaigns

To the Editor:

Over the past few months, I’ve been following national politics pretty closely. It’s disheartening to see how many campaigns deteriorated into mudslinging contests.

While that seems to have become the norm for campaign politics, there is proof here in our own district that negative campaigning isn’t a requirement for success.

Congressman Randy Forbes doesn’t use those tactics — he was re-elected because he is an advocate for the people of our district, and the voters know it. When you have a clear record to run on and well-known exemplary constituent services, there’s no need to get down in the mud, and Congressman Forbes deserved his “clean” win.
