VIRGINIA BEACH—Betsy Munford died peacefully at home on Nov. 16, 2014, after a lengthy illness.

Betsy was born and grew up in Martinsville, Virginia, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles C. Broun. She attended St. Anne’s School in Charlottesville, Virginia, and Pine Manor College in Massachusetts.
After her marriage in 1958 she moved to Franklin, Virginia, and was active in the community throughout the more than 40 years she lived there including leading both a Southampton County organization that raised money on behalf of cancer patients and the Southampton Hospital Auxiliary. As a president of the Franklin Garden Club, she shared with others her fondness and passion for flowers and beautiful gardens. She possessed a rare talent for interior design and for over 30 years helped her clients to add a special elegance to their homes in Franklin and Virginia Beach.
 Betsy will long be remembered for her smile, which animated her beauty, her generosity, her graciousness and her love of family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, John, three children and their spouses and seven grandchildren. Her oldest son, John, and his wife, Beth, reside in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and have three children, Sarah, Will and Jack. Son Charles and his wife, Torrey, reside in Richmond, Virginia, and have two children, Blair and Broun. Page and her husband, Kris Kolligian, live in Dover, Massachusetts, with their two children, Will and Mack. Betsy cherished a wonderful relationship with her children and grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Buddy, and his family who live in Atlanta, and her best friend and sister, Carolyn, who lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, and her children.

The memorial service will be at Galilee Episcopal Church in Virginia Beach, on Friday, Nov. 21, at 11 a.m., and will be followed by a reception at the Princess Anne Country Club.
