A 12-year-old Isle of Wight boy has been arrested for several burglaries at a downtown Franklin business, said Capt. Tim Whitt, spokesman for the Franklin Police Department.

When on location at Bubba’s Place at 11:50 p.m., officers found a broken window and were able to recover photographs of the suspect from a surveillance camera the owner had placed in his business.

As officers were still investigating, a call came in about a suspicious juvenile on Armory Drive. The suspect turned out to be the person alleged to have broken into the downtown business and he was taken into custody. The juvenile was in possession of several items that had earlier been stolen from Walmart.

He has been charged with five counts of burglary as well as shoplifting; he was remanded to Tidewater Detention Center.
