NEWSOMS—Robert Dillard Jamerson, 55, passed away on Oct. 15, 2014, at Sentara Obici Hospital, Suffolk, Virginia. Mr. Jamerson was born on March 29, 1959, in Charlottesville, and was a member of Sharon Baptist Church in Scottsville.

He was a retired carpenter.

Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Joyce Rush Jamerson, of Scottsville; two daughters, Nicole Bowling (Donald) and Bethany Jamerson, all of Newsoms; two sons, Richard Jamerson (Casey) of Dillwyn, and Shawn Jamerson of Newsoms; the mother of his children, Sherrin Jamerson of Newsoms; two brothers, Bernie Jamerson (Jane) of Mosley, and Phillip Jamerson (Tammy) of Scottsville; an adopted brother/nephew, Bruce Jamerson (Crystal) of Scottsville; one grandson, Benjamin Bowling; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Jamerson was predeceased by his father, Dillard Monroe Jamerson, and his sister, Gloria J. Combs.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 19, at Sharon Baptist Church with the Rev. Perry Clore officiating. The burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Dunkum Funeral Home, Dillwyn, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18, and suggests memorial donations be made to Sharon Baptist Church, 3888 Glenmore Road, Scottsville, VA 24590 (for construction of a new Fellowship Hall), or the American Cancer Society.
