BOYKINS—The Tidewater News has confirmation that Narricot Industries has been bought by AEC Narrow Fabrics. The sale became effective on Tuesday.

Narricot, which was a unit of International Textile Group Inc., makes woven narrow fabrics, such as seatbelts for automobiles, and other uses in industry, military and fire and rescue operations.

AEC Narrow Fabrics, based in Asheboro, North Carolina, has also bought the Narricot plant in Murfreesboro, North Carolina.

In a press release obtained by the newspaper, AEC’s Larry Himes, the chief executive officer, is quoted as saying, “We are pleased to have Narricot join with AEC Narrow Fabrics and welcome its employees into the AEC family. Narricot’s strengths in the military, automotive, fire and safety, fall protection and industrial markets complement AEC’s work in these markets and our products for the apparel, medical, bedding, and home furnishings industry. We believe the combination of these companies will serve to strengthen both as we leverage our technologies, product expertise and production capabilities across a more diverse range of markets and end uses.”

The Tidewater News will continue to follow the story and report as it develops.
