COLONIAL BEACH-Since Darren Parker has been the head coach at Franklin High School, the Broncos have never been 0-2. That changed Friday when they traveled to face Colonial Beach High School in a VHSL out of conference Division 1A match, as FHS fell 54-24, the school’s second loss of the season.

The Broncos had a hard time stopping the Drifters from running in the match, Parker said.

A statistical breakdown of this match was not able to be obtained, as earlier calls in the week to the Colonial Beach athletics department were not returned; and Coach Justin Oliver, who records the stats for Franklin, was not able to make the trip.

Parker said after the game that the Broncos would have to go back to the drawing board and regroup to prepare for Charles City, where they will next travel to face the Panthers.

“We have to stay together as a team. Our coaches are not going to stop coaching, and the players are not going to stop playing. We are not going to look back, but just regroup and look forward.

“This team will be back.”
