Resting before a new year of labor

Even though summer will be with us for a few more weeks, that season may as well end on Tuesday when classes resume for the new school year.

Meanwhile, there’s an opportunity for a bit more fun and time to shop for clothes and supplies. Many families will make a last trek to the beach, an amusement park or elsewhere. But whether you travel or stay locally, as always drive defensively…drive safely. No one wants to be a fatality statistic.

You can be sure that area and state police will be on the lookout for speed demons and drunk drivers.

As you will see in today’s edition of The Tidewater News, we are publishing the bus schedules. For questions about routes and times, contact your child’s school.

Speaking of which, remember that when the buses pause to let children on or off, vehicles immediately around must halt as long as the bus stop signs are displayed.

We’re looking forward to the new academic year as much as you, and want to publish the good news of how well students, faculty and staff do in 2014-2015. Let us know when your school is doing something worth sharing.
