FRANKLIN—Charles Richard “Chuck” Bowers II, 51, passed away on Aug. 12, 2014.
He was born in Norfolk, reared in Connecticut, and was a graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
Chuck was a former pilot with US Airways, Airborne, DHL, Blackwater and most recently for the Department of Defense in Afghanistan.
A loving husband, father and friend, he leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 17 years, Kelly Leggett Bowers; his children, Charles Richard “Chad” Bowers III and Caroline Elizabeth Bowers, both of the home; his parents, Charlie and Rita Bowers of Punta Gorda, Florida; his brother, Stanley Wade Bowers of Punta Gorda; his uncle, Archie Eckard (Faith) of North Carolina; his aunt, Linda Agee (George) of Georgia; his nephew, Alex Bowers of Mooresville, North Carolina; his father and mother-in-law, Bill and Jean Leggett of Suffolk; and extended family and friends.
A celebration of Chuck’s life will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 19, at Barrett’s Landing Riverfront Park on Main Street followed by a reception at Fred’s Restaurant on Main Street in Franklin. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made in Chuck’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
