D. Lindy Eure

GATESVILLE, N.C.—Dempsey Lindburg “Lindy” Eure, 83, of 274 Harrell’s Church Road, died on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014, in his home.

Mr. Eure was born in Gates County, North Carolina, on Oct. 19, 1930, and was the son of the late Nora Harrell and Henry Lee Eure.

Retired after 30 years from the roll finishing department at Union Camp Corp. in Franklin, he had also worked as a farmer and had been a grower for Perdue Farms.

He was a member of Eure Christian Church.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Margaret Winslow Eure; three daughters, Linda Schocklin and husband, Howard, of Suffolk; Robin Eure and husband, Buddy, of Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina; and Mary Kathryn Eure of Gatesville; two sons, Joe Eure and wife, Donna, of Atlanta, Georgia; and Kenny Eure and wife, Jennie, of Gatesville; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will take place on Thursday at 11 a.m. in Eure Christian Church by the Rev. Michael Brinkley. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main St., Gatesville, handling arrangements.

Friends may join the family in the social hall of the church immediately following services, and all other times at the residence.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to either the Gates County Rescue Squad, or the Gatesville Volunteer Fire Dept., both in Gatesville, NC 27938.
