NEWSOMS—Carol Ann Dutkiewicz Saffell, 70, passed away on July 31, 2014, at the home of her son in Colerain, North Carolina.

She was born in Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Raymond and Doris Anna Stopfer Dutkiewicz, and was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Gary Dean Saffell.

Carol was a member of Franklin Church of God.

Survivors include three daughters, Pattie Barnette and Connie Lafferty and husband, Bryan, all of Nashville, North Carolina, and Dan’iel Saffell of Chesapeake; one son, the Rev. Gary Saffell and wife, Michelle, of Colerain, North Carolina; one sister, Helen Mae Dutkiewicz, of Chalfont, Pennsylvania; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The funeral will take place at 2 p.,m. on Saturday, Aug. 2, in Franklin Church of God with the Rev. James Ashby and the Rev. Gary Saffell officiating. Burial next to her husband at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk, will be private.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
