FRANKLIN—John Lundy Belcher, 78, passed away on July 27, 2014, at his home.

He was a son of the late Rev. James Roy Belcher Sr. and Mary Alice Mercer Belcher, and was predeceased by two brothers, Eugene Belcher and James R. Belcher Jr.

John had retired as owner and operator of Belcher’s Services LLC, and was a member of High Street United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Faye Akers Belcher; three sons, James “Jim” Belcher (Judy) and Sanford Belcher (Jeanette), both of Franklin, and Greg Belcher (Helene “Boo”) of Towson, Maryland; one brother, Roland Keith Belcher of Denver, Colorado; five grandchildren, J.T., Scott, Daniel, Elizabeth and Clayton Belcher; and two great-grandchildren, Elijah and Cadence Belcher.

The funeral will take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 30, in High Street United Methodist Church, 31094 Camp Parkway, Courtland, with the Rev. James H. Hyatt Jr. officiating.

Burial will be private at Poplar Spring Cemetery. A reception will follow at the church after the service. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29, in Wright Funeral Home, and suggests memorials be made to Franklin Cooperative Ministries, 511 N. Main St., Franklin, VA 23851.
