I first learned about Kiwanis when doing a presentation on PDCCC’s Career Development Center for the Smithfield Kiwanis club. I got so fired up about the idea of meeting with a group of like-minded professionals who were creating beneficial community projects, that I immediately returned to Franklin to investigate Kiwanis in our area. Finding that Franklin/Southampton no longer had a Kiwanis club, I started making contacts to find out how we could rekindle our local Kiwanis. I met with some great leaders and mentors, along with some local community members who were enthusiastic and very supportive of a new Franklin/Southampton Kiwanis club.
This is where I need your help. This Monday, July 21 at 4:30 p.m. at Paul D. Camp Community College’s Franklin Campus (100 N. College Drive, Franklin, Room 123), we will be holding an information session about Kiwanis, forming a new club for Franklin/Southampton, as well as identifying our community’s needs. I’m asking that you please try to attend (anyone and everyone is invited). Please RSVP to me, Angela Lawhorne, via e-mail at alawhorne@pdc.edu or phone at 569-6785.
A little bit about a Kiwanis:
Kiwanis clubs focus on changing the world by serving children, one child and one community at a time.
I LOVE MY CLUB! What do you love about your club? Whatever it is, members make it happen. The service, the leadership, the fellowship, the fundraising — it all requires Kiwanis. And it all helps strengthen your community. For more information, visit www.Kiwanis.org.
This is for your community, please consider an involvement with planning and participating in community improvement.
