WINDSOR—A Windsor man died in a single-car accident shortly after midnight on Wednesday, according to Sgt. Michelle Anaya, spokeswoman for the Virginia State Police. The Isle of Wight Sheriff’s Office had requested the VSP to respond to the scene at 12:39 a.m. in the 18500 block of Longview Drive (Route 602).

Malcolm Joe-Al Wooden, 20, of the 17400 block of Darden Lane, was the victim.

While driving a 2003 Buick Century headed north on Longview Drive, Wooden apparently lost control, ran off the road and hit a tree, according to the report. He died at the scene.

Wooden was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the fatality, stated Anaya. Speed was not an issue, but it’s unknown if alcohol was a contributing factor.
