Watch out for one another

A breakthrough in an investigation of a burglary spotlights the diligence of the detectives at Southampton County Sheriff’s Office. Their discovery pointed them to other clues and a cause for searching a suspect’s home. This in turn has uncovered details that may go a long way to answering a number of questions about property that’s been missing from a number of houses in the county.
We’ll trust the investigators to stay on top of the matter.
Speaking of suspected burglary, what comes to mind is a call for residents in both the country and city to be on the lookout for one another.
For example, if you’re thinking of going on vacation, ask neighbors to keep a watch on your home. Put mail and newspaper deliveries on hold until a return. Also, arrange for lawn care as overgrown grass can be a telltale sign for thieves that the house is ripe for picking.
Of course these ideas, among others, don’t just apply to a summer break, but year round. Vigilance among residents can go a long way in preventing both theft and heartbreak.
This can also be a help to law enforcement in deterring crime, especially because the deputies and police can’t be everywhere at once.
