SUFFOLK—Glen Robert Hawkins, 63, went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 8, 2014.

He was born in Beckley, West Virginia on Jan. 25, 1951, and was a 1969 graduate of Forest Glen High School. Glen was an Army veteran, and had retired as an electrician from International Paper.

He was a member of Bethel Assembly of God, an avid hunter and fisherman, and he loved playing his guitar.

Glen was a loving husband, a devoted son, a nurturing brother, an awesome Dad, and a super Poppy. He will be missed by many, but we will cherish our fond memories and loving moments with him. He so desperately wanted to hear Jesus say, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”

Glen was predeceased by his mother, Esther G. Hawkins.

Survivors include his father, the Rev. William E. Hawkins; his wife of 31 years, Judy R. Hawkins, three sons, Coleman Ashley Hawkins, and his wife, Molly, Joshua Lee Hawkins, and his wife, Leslie, and Marshall Robert Hawkins; one sister, Susan Joan Tinch, and her husband, Kenneth; his nephew, Bryan; and three grandchildren, Jeremiah Lee Hawkins, Marian Esther Hawkins and Alayna May Hawkins.

A celebration of Glen’s life will take place at 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, in Bethel Assembly of God, 8904 S. Quay Rd., Suffolk, with Pastor T.R. King officiating. Military honors will be observed in the church.

The family will receive friends at Glen and Judy Hawkins’ home at 8001 Stuart Drive, Suffolk and after the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Crisis Pregnancy Center of Tidewater, 1021 Edenway North, Suite 116, Chesapeake, VA 23320. “Speak LIFE!”

Special thanks to Southampton Hospice staff for their care and kindness toward Glen and our family. Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, has charge of arrangements.
