FRANKLIN—No charges have been filed in connection to a second accident on Route 58 west that took place Tuesday afternoon, according to Maj. Gene Drewery, spokesman for the Southampton County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident at 2:15 p.m. was east of Camp Parkway, where an earlier accident had caused traffic to be backed up.
When he realized that cars ahead of him weren’t moving, John E. Rountree Jr. of Corapeake, North Carolina, lost control of his 2005 Harley-Davidson motorcycle as he attempted to stop. He ran into another vehicle. Rountree was transported by helicopter to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
His condition is unknown.
