Bass club to sponsor Area 29 Special Olympics event

FRANKLIN—Round nine of the Three River Bass Tournament Series was on June 29 at the Highway 258 boat landing on the Nottoway River. First place went to the team of Billy Daniels and Brent Boney with five bass weighing 13.40 pounds.

The team of Kevin Gunn and Jonathan Whitley took second place with five bass weighing 10.85 pounds.

In third place was the team of Larry Phelps and Bennie Plessinger with five bass weighing 10.78 pounds.

Rounding out the top five places was the team of Keith Vick and K.J. Vick in fourth place with five bass weighing 9.69 pounds followed in fifth place by the team of Bob Holt and Matt Holt with five bass weighing 8.93 pounds.

The heaviest bass of the day was caught by Donnie Fuller. The fish weighed 4.40 pounds.

The bass club will be sponsoring a benefit tournament for Special Olympics on Saturday, July 12, from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration will end at 5:45 that morning. Boats will launch from Highway 258 boat landing on the Nottoway River.

All regular tournament rules will apply with a 50/50 prize payout to help with the Special Olympics.
