COURTLAND—The passenger injured in the accident at 58 west and Camp Parkway on Tuesday has just been released from Sentara Norfolk General Hospital on Wednesday afternoon, according to a hospital spokesman.

The driver and the passenger of a Honda Accord were hospitalized after they were hurt when the car was struck by a tractor trailer at the aforementioned location.

Sgt. Michelle Anaya, spokeswoman for the Virginia State Police, stated in an email reply to questions that the car was driven by a 15-year-old boy; his mother, Kimberly Brown, was in the front seat. The vehicle was coming from Camp Parkway attempting to get onto the highway. When it merged in front of a tractor trailer, the Honda was hit on the driver’s side.

The boy and his mother suffered major injuries and both had to be taken by a medical helicopter to a regional hospital.

Marty Ross of North Carolina is listed as the driver of the tractor trailer. No charges have yet been made, and the investigation continues.
