Franklin man arrested after car, foot chase

FRANKLIN—After spotting a window tint violation, a Virginia State Police trooper began a pursuit at 11:55 a.m. on Sunday, said Sgt. Michelle Anaya, spokeswoman for the VSP. The driver of a 2002 Chevrolet Malibu reportedly did not pull over, but instead continued and was pursued in the area of Country Club Road.

At 12:01 p.m., the trooper called back that the speed of the Malibu was decreasing, and 4 minutes later the driver bailed out of the car. After a minute chase, the suspect was in custody.

Marlon Waff, 28, of the 31000 block of Carter Street, Franklin, was charged with felony elude, possess suspected cocaine, felony possess handgun, and he was wanted in Southampton County and the city of Newport News.

Waff is in Western Tidewater Regional Jail with no bond.
