FRANKLIN—Bessie Mae Blowe Neverson, 69, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2014.

God called Bessie’s name and she recognized the voice and responded with a smile. The Angel knew exactly what to do and they obediently performed their duties. Bessie made her peaceful exit to be with God. She lived a full life impacting the lives of so many—but now, on to eternity.

Bessie was born and raised in Franklin, Virginia, on Nov. 3, 1944, to the parents of deceased Humphrey and Ruth Blowe. She was the third child of eight.

All of her friends enjoyed being around her and there were no strangers in her life.

She graduated from Hayden High School in 1963, and graduated from Cortez Business School in 1965 in Washington, D.C.

She enjoyed witnessing and listening to others in and out of he community. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church for 27 years. In previous years, she was responsible for the church bulletin each week and worked as a secretary for the pastor. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church choirs; president of the Heavenly Light Choir; chairwoman of the Kitchen Committee; and she taught Sunday school for many years, and enjoyed teaching the youth.

She worked as a federal employee for 42 years for the Department of Agriculture. She worked as a secretary, a personal assistant and a civil rights counselor on the Civil Rights staff.

She was united in holy matrimony to James Sylvester Neverson, and from that union they had one daughter, Tisha Neverson Clark. She also had one granddaughter, Jamari Brianna Neverson, who she loved very much.

She also leaves to cherish her memory her sisters, Nelda Hilliard (Purcell), Cheryl Fraizer and Sharon Ellis; one brother, Alvin Bernard Blowe (Gail); special friends, Katina Savage, Louella Meachem, Peggy Anderson and Betty Grayson; along with a host of other special friends, nieces, nephews and other family members who she loved and appreciated.

Services for Bessie will take place at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 16, in Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 18410 Chapel Drive, Triangle, Virginia, with the Rev. Dr. Alfred Jones Jr. officiating.

Interment will follow in Southview Cemetery, Franklin.
