FRANKLIN—Mrs. Sylvia B. Williams of Council Road, departed this life to rest eternally on May 28, 2014.

She was born in Isle of Wight County on Oct. 31, 1930, to Louise H. and Lonnie Barrett.

Mrs. Williams was a caregiver for disabled children from Willowbrook State School in New York. In 1989, she retired after 26 years of service.

Sylvia was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church where she served on the Pastor’s Aide Auxillary. She attended the senior citizens’ groups of Oak Street in Franklin and the Otelia Rainey Center in Isle of Wight County.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Russell Williams; one son, Russell Williams Jr.; and her sister, Rosa B. Joyner.

She is survived by one daughter, Priscilla L. Bynum (Tonch); one son, Lonnie D. Williams; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and cousins.

The homegoing service will take place at noon on Friday, June 6, in Piney Grove Baptist Church, 1071 Carrsville Highway., with the assistant pastor, the Rev. D.A. Manley delivering the eulogy; the Rev. Alfred Brown Sr. is the pastor. Burial will be in the Southview Cemetery.

On the day of service, her remains will rest in church for viewing by 11 a.m.

A traditional service with dignity will be conducted by William M. Johnson and Sons, Inc., 224 S. Main St., Franklin.
