John F. Slaton

FRANKLIN—John Franklin Slaton, 84, passed away on May 10, 2014.
John was born in Electric Mills, Mississippi, a son of the late Thomas and Eloise Sharpe Slaton.
He was a retired Paper Mill superintendent of the Union Camp Plant in Eastover, South Carolina, with 44 years of service to the company.
He enjoyed Lake Gaston, where he was a master gardener and a member of the Lake Gaston Water Safety Council.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years, Kathleen Joyner “Kitty” Slaton, one daughter, Theresa Leigh Slaton of Waxhaw, North Carolina; one son, David Dwight Slaton, and his wife, Betty, of Franklin; three brothers, Malcolm, Coleman and Larry Slaton; two grandchildren, Keith Slaton and his wife, Ashley, and Amie S. Baty and her husband, Daniel; and two great-grandchildren, Brooke Taylor Baty and Liam Edward Slaton.
The memorial service took place at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, at The Village at Woods Edge with the Rev Michael Baugham officiating.
