FRANKLIN—The rain came on Monday during the latest singles match of the Southampton County High School Indian boys tennis team match against the Franklin Broncos. Sam McDonald sealed the 5-1 win for the Indians as he defeated Khiry Reese 8-3 in the No. 1 singles match. Doubles matches were not played due to rain.

The singles matches were played in an 8-game pro set. Russell Ballace (SHS) defeated Aaron Griffith (FHS) 8-0 in No. 2 singles.

At No. 3 and No. 6, Ellis Coefield (SHS) and Donald Blythe (SHS) won by default

No. 4’s Cedric Everett (SHS) won 8-1 against Timothy McCoy (FHS).

Quayshaun Jefferson (FHS) defeated Cam McHenrey (SHS) 8-6 in the No. 5 spot.

Although it was rainy in the Franklin area last week, the Franklin High School Bronco Boys tennis team managed to squeeze in a match on May 1.

Playing a district match at FHS, the Broncos were still rained on as the Appomattox Regional Governors School Dragons stormed heavily on the home team to win 9-0.

The Broncos now 0-4 overall and 0-2.
