ISLE OF WIGHT—A Capron man has been identified as the sole occupant in a single-car fatality that took place at approximately 9:43 a.m. Tuesday, stated Sgt. Michelle Anaya, a spokeswoman for the Virginia State Police.

Cody Allan Brizzell, 18, of the 19300 block of Popes Station Road, was traveling southbound in a 1995 Jeep Cherokee on Route 258 when he lost control, ran off the road and struck a tree. The cause of why Brizzell went off the road is still unknown.

The family has been notified and the investigation is ongoing, she added.
