Expanded Route 460 project greatly needed

Editor,

Recognizing the tremendous increase in commerce that will result from the Panama Canal expansion, it becomes instantly obvious that the need for a toll road from Petersburg to Suffolk is overwhelming and that the greatest governor of our time was truly a visionary.

I utilize Hwy. 460 extensively and cannot imagine additional truck traffic on that route. It is currently very unsafe and can only get to be critical in the future.

I can assure you that truckers would be very happy to pay a fee to use a new limited access road. I can also assure that we would have virtually no negative impact on the environment with our ability to span rivers, creeks and ponds.

I urge Congressman [Randy] Forbes and all members of the Virginia legislature to reassess this overwhelming priority so that we can be ready to handle the increase in commerce forecasted to occur by 2015.
