James William Thomas III of the 28000 block of Little Texas Road was arrested that night when Franklin police responded to a call from Dan Crumpler III’s law office.

When officers arrived, they checked the building and roof, according to Lt. Kenneth Barham, who’s serving as the police spokesman. Thomas, 29, was found on a roof of an adjoining building and taken into custody without a struggle.

The suspect was also charged with possessing burglar tools and trespassing.

He’s being held without bond in Western Tidewater Regional Jail.
