Windell Y. Francis

Windell Yeattes Francis, 75, our loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on April 18, 2014, at Southampton Memorial Hospital.

A native of Emporia, she was the only child of the late Louise Collins and William Ceaphus Yeattes.

She was valedictorian of her graduating class at Emporia High School, and was the owner of Windell Francis Realty and Crop Insurance, where she enjoyed serving the farmers and cherished the friendships she established through the years.

Windell was a member of Capron United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Kermit Glenn Francis; her daughter, Melanie F. Washington; her son, K. Glenn Francis Jr., and his wife, Beth; and her two special grandsons, Jason and Jordan Francis.

The graveside service will take place at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 21, in Capron Cemetery with Pastor Nancy Palmer officiating.

The family will receive friends at the residence, and suggests memorials be made to Capron United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 159, Capron, VA 23829.
