Southampton schools demonstrate appreciation for volunteers

On Thursday, Southampton County Public Schools had its first Community Partners for Education reception and recognition program. The brainchild of division superintendent Dr. Alvera Parrish, the event was intended to further the relationships that have been established between the school system and the individuals and organizations that volunteer to work with the schools.

Starting at the top with Dr. Parrish, on through central office personnel, building principals and all the students who participated in the event, each went out of their way to make the community partners and guests feel not only welcome, but truly appreciated. This was no dog and pony show, either. It was a genuine expression of appreciation by Southampton County’s educators, letting those who volunteer their time and efforts know just how much what they give of themselves means to the schools.

It was a well planned and executed event, and one that certainly accomplished its intended mission.
